J. Hückel´s Söhne "Jota Velour", FP 5, possibly late 1920s early 1930s. Really fantastic Black Velour that easily dry creases. There is no Hückel on the Liner and Sweatband. The JHS Crest is the similar to the "Loden" Soft Felts that also do not have Hückel on the Sweatband and Crown Tip Patch. The Paper Label is a JHS Soft Felts Post WWI Type 8 and has no mention of JHS. This hat came from a Czech source. German Hat Maker's Seal, "L. W." initials with a Top Hat and Lions possibly mid to late 19th Century. Not sure who the Hat Maker** is but the seller thought it could a Hat Maker from Bavaria/Allgäu area. ** I found a Hat Maker "Ludwig Weigt" from Deustch Kralupp (today Karlovarsky kraj northwest region of Czechia / Czech Republic) in a 1879 trade listing but no way to verify this is the same "L. W." on the Seal.

P. & C. Habig Wien "Special Qualität", 58 cm, 147 grams, possibly early to mid 1920s. This is an older one based on the Paper Label type and the use of city name Cassel vs. Kassel. In 1926 the city name was officially changed to Kassel.** The Black Felt has a superb finish / hand. The Form is impressive with a taller Crown and less side tapper. The component quality and workmanship are excellent which is always the case with P. & C. Habig Wien. The overall condition is very good especially for its age. The Worker's "Arb." surname appears to be "Makovsky". I will have to see if I can find something about him. Starting in 1925 there is an Anton Makovsky listed as "Hutmacher / Hat Maker, XVI/1 Koppstr. 64" in "Adolph Lehmann's general housing indicator: along with trade and business address book for d. k.k. J. Hückel´s Söhne "Standard" "Crystall Velour", FP 5 1/2, possibly late 1920s early 1930s. The Gray Green "Crystall Velour" has a great finish and easily dry creases. The liner was very stained so I had to remove and bleach so it lost a good amount of color. The "Crystall Velour" is in good condition which is the most important. The Paper Label is JHS Soft Felts Post WWI Type 1. The Sweatband has unique green cord band. Open Crown Natural Light

Sucharipa Wien "Original Öster. Zeugnis / Original Austrian Manufacture", 58 cm, Wool, 175 grams, possibly early 1930s. There is no paper label behind the Sweatband. The black Wool Felt has a fine finish. The black Band is of medium width with frayed Bow. The Sweatband and Liner are both Off White. There is a functioning braided Wind Cord. The overall condition is excellent.

Hückel Weilheim "Mercur", 57 cm, probably later 1950s. The black Belt Felt has a really great finish and the Crown was pre Blocked so I kept it that way. The small Side Dents were popular in Germany in this time period. Really like the Band width, Bow design and the thinner Binding. The overall condition is fantastic. I only know of one other JHS "Omega" Velour (also made for the French Market) on FL that belongs to Robert (RLK) and was found in 2013. The medium weight light absorbing black Velour is of very high quality with high gloss and very pliable so easily dry creases. It's non Liner type with Crown patch. The Band is wide with an interesting Bow design. The Sweatband has the JHS Hanging Cord at the rear. The Paper Label is JHS Post WWI Soft Felt Type 1. Open Crown
