Mayser "Superbe", Size 60cm. This one is stamped 17 September 1952 inside the sweatband so a rare older one. It has interesting brim stitching and a bunch of brim curl. Not sure if it's a factory crease but whoever did it did a super job. Also in very good condition.

Manfred, Thank you for posting these great Maysers! I haven't been able to keep up with your finds so please go ahead and post here if you have time.

Thanks Steve, I'll gladly do. There are, besides fedora lounge, no page that presents much of European knowing and hats as yours. Its a honor for me.

This great Mayser Homburg belongs to RobStc on the FL. Probably mid 1950s.

"Colour in real life is a far richer, darker chestnut brown. Condition is pretty much perfect. Picked it up a while ago in a bunch of German hats that appeared in my local vintage shop. Any idea on age of this one?"

Mayser Talpa (Mole in Italian), size 56cm, 1930s. This is the first old Mayser soft felt I have found after looking for 6 years so very rare. The Velour color and finish (Mole like color and finish?) are right up there with the finest old Austrian Velours. The original size tag is still present. Also a taped sweat which is a first regarding Mayser. I checked with Rosenheim city archives and the hat store did not survive WWII. This is my top find of the year so far.

Echter Mayser "Superbe", Size 58cm, excellent condition, probably mid 1950s.  The felt is a beautiful shade of brown with a great finish. Also very nice bow, brim stitching and binding work. It was sold out of Ernst Köln Men's Store which was a common source for fine hats.

Mayser Superbe, size 56cm, probably early to mid 1950s. This beauty belongs to Manfred.

"Mayser arrived today. Wow what a great hat. I am very suprised about condition and shape!

Top condition, no stains and no dust! It's a Mayser Superbe. The shape looks like a Homburger. My guess, mid 50s!"

Mayser made hats under the Parker 713 Broadway New York brand name starting in 1960 (image from 1966). They also tradmarked the Hilton brand name in 1962 but no image is available.

Based on the paper label format and Farbe 506 number (Mayser used Farber 5XX for browns) this hat was made by Mayser for Hut Seidl München. Hut Seidl München had a long historical connection with Mayser. My guess it's early 1950s. It belongs to Fastuni on the FL.

"I've picked up this hat from a fleamarket today... it is a size 58."

Side note: With the participation of Anton Seidl, the owner of the J. A. Seidl hat factory in Munich, the company is transformed into a GmbH (private limited company) in 1914. The partners are Carl Mayser and Anton Seidl, who takes over sole ownership of the Mayser hat factory four years later (1918).

Rare photo of Mayser's Velour Manual Wet Brushing (1925). You can see them working both hoods and blocked hats(pre and post dying). The process (brush, clip, dye) was repeated many times (could take weeks) under hot / steamy conditions.
