habigman
Album für (for) Mayser 's Neuheitens (New Releases), Mai (May) 1914, from the Gotisches Haus (Gothic House) Bad Homburg , Germany hat collection. (This is a large image so you have to click on it to see the details. Very interesting Bow designs and of course great hats from May 1914. Also has the "Art/Form" and "Farbe/Color" numbers) "Art/Form" is "Form" in English. The "Art/Form" number is 5 digits for Soft Felts and all start with 34 (1914). The "Art/Form" number is 4 digits for Stiff Felts and the only examples starts with 48 (1914). The numbers increment because here are some later examples (probably at least WWII era). "Art/Form" 49703 (Possible Oldest Soft Felt) - "Art/Form" 34846 (First Hat, Upper Left) = 14857 (Difference Since 1914) I wasn't able to match any of the older Mayser Soft Felt "Farbe/Color" numbers but I will check some of the later Soft Felts. 1937 date stamped envelope from a Dutch Mayser distributor (N.V. Hoedenmaatschappij, Bussum). The Mayser logo on the envelope matches the above sweatband logo. "Art/Form" 5157 (Possibly Oldest Stiff Felt) - "Art/Form" 4854 (Bottom Center) = 303 (Difference Since 1914) There isn't a "Farbe/Color" number for "Art/Form" 4854 because Black is "Farbe 1" for all Mayser Soft and Stiff Felt Hats I have encountered. Here is some additional information. "Art/Form" numbers for October 1931 are 46657, 45023. Mayser's Hutfabrik G. M. B. H. Receipt for Felix Fenn Dresden, October 24, 1931 Possibly an older Soft Felt with a lower number "Art/Form" 42387. Possibly from the same time period as the Mayser / Johann Zehme Stiff Felt posted above. This hat belongs to Huthase on the FL.

habigman
Mayser "Libelle", 58 cm, possibly later 1950s. The Felt has a great color / finish and easily dry creases. Also a really interesting Bow and Brim treatment. This is my second "Libelle" so not a common Mark. Unique "Echter Mayser" Celluloid Label attached to the Sweatband. I have never seen one of these before so a very pleasant surprise. Natural Light

habigman
Echter Mayser "Spezial", 59 cm possibly mid 1950s. The Black Felt has a great Finish and easily dry creases. Classic Form with very stylish Bow design which Mayser used often with their Homburgs in this time period. Open Crown Natural Light The hat was severally crushed at the brim edge during shipping. The box was pulverized (most likely by USPS) and had to be wrapped in shrink wrap by USPS. I thought it was lost but arrived yesterday with no status update from USPS since early September. The photos were taken after popping the crown out so originally more crushed.
habigman
Mayser "Grosser Preis" / M. Mertés Hutfabrik, Inh. Max Hecht Nürnberg Karolinenstr. 8, measures 58.5 cm, possibly late 1920s early 1930s (this based on a February 3, 1932 Newspaper Sweatband Spacer). This one is difficult to date because of the non matching Liner and Sweatband plus no Paper Label. I tend to think it was made by Mayser Ulm based on the construction, components and Felt are of very high quality. I have collected some information but have to do more research. It's rare to find a Mélange Stiff Felt. I believe this is Fur Felt because of the very soft hand but it might have some Wool in the mix. The Mélange is mostly different shades of Gray maybe a tinge of Red other unknown Colors. The Finish is some what roughly clipped so Flamand Velour like. This is one of my better recent finds. As I mentioned it's difficult / rare to find this type of Stiff Felt. Natural Light M. Mertés Receipt from 01/04/1913 listing Mayser Ulm. Found by Martin on the FL. M. Mertés Inh. habigman
Mayser "J.K.", 57 cm, 115 grams, possibly late 1920s. The exterior Size Stamp is 58 which is accurate. The black Felt is of high quality and finely Finished. Interesting shorter length Bow which appears to be a Mayser Ulm trademark (based on my three Mayser Ulm Stiff Felts). The Liner has slightly transparent lightweight sides. Anton Ils Neiderlage / Warehouse was out of Ulm a. /D. so same location as Mayser Ulm. I have Silk Top Hat from Anton Ils Ulm a. / D. habigman
Stetson "Excellent" Made under License by Mayser, Especially Made for Carl Kellner Hamburg, measures 58cm, possibly early 1960s. The paper label is missing so not sure it's Black, could possible be a Dark Charcoal Gray. It's a later Form but the Felt is pliable and easily dry creases. I like the color of the the Band / Binding and also like the Bow design. Open Crown

habigman
Stetson - Mayser Excellent "Skyway", 57cm possibly late 1950s. There is only one other Stetson - Mayser "Skyway", found by Stefan on the FL back in 2021. The black Felt has a very nice finish and is pliable so easily dry creases. The form is "Camber" like so I think it looks better "Brim Up". Mayser acquired the Stetson license for Germany in 1954. habigman
Borchert Berlin W, Made by Mayser, 58cm, date stamped Dec. 13, 1957. This is a really great Homburg. The Felt is fantastic but of a heavier weight so looks great without side dents. I believe the number sequence is actually a date. It's either 2.11.56 or 21.1.56. Either is a good a match for the Sweatband stamped date. Natural Light This Mayser "Spezial" Homburg that I found back in 2010 proves this Borchert Berlin W. Homburg was made by Mayser. The only difference is it doesn't have wind cord. https://germanaustrianhats.invisionzone.com/topic/3-mayser-hutfabrik/?do=findComment&comment=
