habigman
Seal Velour is a fur felt finish that has a seal fur appearance. J. Hückel's Söhne was the originator of this finish and they used rabbit / hare fur felt.
Old Dirty Shirt
Is the Seal Velour label show for Hückel made of cloth or paper? I can't tell. I love seeing the foil stamped die impressions in the leather sweat bands. As I do foil stamping myself, my admiration comes naturally. habigman
It is on paper. This one is really nice!
habigman
Here is a American newspaper ad from 1913 that mentions Austrian Velour resembling real seal skin. Austrian Velour including Seal Velour did not contain seal fur. It was made of rabbit, hare and maybe some nutria or beaver for durability.
