  1. TONAK, Hückel Related, German + Euro Trademarks It appears that TONAK is the only company holding current Hückel related trademarks for Europe. It appear they didn't receive trademarks until 1966. I assuming the 1930s trademarks where under JHS and didn't transfer but I could be wrong. As far as I can tell TONAK didn't sell under the Hückel name in Germany (not sure about the rest of Europe) while Hückel Hutfabrik Weilheim was still in business (closed 1975).
  2. Hückel Family Members (Post Hückel Hutfabrik Weilheim), German Trademarks
  3. Hutfabrik Rockel, German Trademarks
  4. Echter Rockel Velour, size 59cm, new old stock. Really fantastic colors (felt, liner, ribbon) and Velour finish. Also a perfect fit. Thinking late 1930s - 1940s. This one took a while to arrive but well worth the wait.
  5. Excelsior Crease Clip, Germany, made of Aluminum, 1930s.
  6. EMS "Gloria" Backbow, measures 59cm, 6 1/2 inches Open Crown, 2 1/2 inches brim. It came with a crease clip (Excelsior) and the original hat shop bag (H. Moeller Marburg). The felt (Ferrum) and ribbon (Veilchen) colors are very unique (both Violets). Same with the felt finish and hand (very malleable). I had trouble photographing it (looks much better). I wasn't able to find anything on EMS. I would like to thank Manfred for pointing me to this gem! I would like to thank Florian from the TypeDrawers Typography Forum for the following great information. "The “Gloria” logo looks custom to me, I can’t reliably date it. The original hat shop bag (H. Moeller Marburg) is a tad more helpful in this regard: Some of the lines are set in a face known as Druckhaus-Antiqua, among other names. The schmal halbfett weight used for “Cylinder- und Klapphüte” was not added before 1910, see the typeface bio on Fonts In Use. I’d estimate that this typeface was in use at least until the 1930s." 7. Keuthen Essen Homburg, listed size 59-60cm, early 1950s maybe older. This doesn't belong to me (I forgot to bid) but the auction photos were good and it's a really great Homburg. Fantastic color combinations and unique sweatband. I am not sure if Keuthen Essen was a shop or maker.
  8. Palatin, Black, size 59cm. This fantastic hat belongs to the seller of the Gloria Back Bow hat that I recently won. The seller said her father wore this hat on his wedding day (1950). It doesn't appear to have had side dents which is also the case with the Gloria Back Bow. Unfortunately there is no company mentioned on the paper label and I couldn't identify the Palatin liner mark.
  9. E. Klenz Wiener Velour, pristine condition, probably 1920s. This beauty belongs to Robert on the FL. Another amazing find! I found Egydius Klenz listed in the Vienna Hatmakers Cooperative (12/1928). He is also listed in Peter Habig's Paris 1900 Exhibition report. "Perfect fit and a Velour that seems to brush either way. Homburg size brim curl is even all around. Only info I found was that they were an exhibitor at the Paris Exposition of 1900 with other Austrian Producers of Velours." still in business: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=http://www.tenucci.com/storia.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dferdinando%2Btenucci%2Blucca%2Bcappelleria%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1546%26bih%3D1064&sa=X&ei=K89QUYaJC8jRyQHKioCIAg&ved=0CEAQ7gEwAQ
  10. Velour-Hutfabrik Carl Blum, Wels, Austria (Blum-Velour) This rare (the only Carl Blum I have encountered) beauty belongs to Garrett. "This hat was initially renovated by Art Fawcett who put a wide black sweatband in (with matching gold pipe trim) as the hat didn't come with one but later required ribbon replacement (exact copy of the original) by Bob Jesse."
  11. Deutsche Hutmacher Zeitung, January 1913
  12. Wegener Special, probably very early 1960s. This one belongs to Paddy on the FL.
  13. Mayser Superbe, size 56cm, probably early to mid 1950s. This beauty belongs to Manfred. "Mayser arrived today. Wow what a great hat. I am very suprised about condition and shape! Top condition, no stains and no dust! It's a Mayser Superbe. The shape looks like a Homburger. My guess, mid 50s!"
  14. TONAK Plant Hückel "Lutra", size 7 3/8, probably very early 1950s. Lutra is European Otter so could be quality related (not sure). Unfortunately some nicks and minor moth + stain issues but didn't pay much for it. I think it has a nice look brim up. Same seller as the TONAK Zephyr Seal Velour. European Otter (Lutra) Update 08/07/14 I was looking through some of my hats that have welted edges and I discovered that this hat has a felted edge. I am not sure why I never noticed this before. Top Bottom
  15. TONAK Formerly Hückel Zephyr Seal Velour, size 7 3/8, very good condition, probably late 1940s. Natural Light
  16. K. & R. Lembert Kristall Velour, mint condition, probably mid to later 1950s. Very beautiful / high quality black Velour that reminds me of JHS Sigma finish. Unfotunately listed as 58cm but more like 55cm. Still it's the oldest K. & R. Lembert soft felt I have encountered. Shown here with brim snapped.
  17. This pristine beauty belongs to Manfred. The men's store (Richard Nebel Bautzen, east Germany) that it came from is still in business! "Wilke Electron Melone arrived today! Very nice Melone, light weight, 156g, size 56. Unfortunately the sweatband stitching is loose. I repaired it. "
  18. Echter Borsalino, date stamped 9/10/38. This great find belongs to Manfred. "Sweatband stitching damaged, ribbon and bow damaged! I knew that before I have commanded." "After sewing the sweatband, I gave him a new vintage ribbon and a new flanging. That is the finished hat! Echter Borsalino Color Mirtillo a dark blue / black."
  19. Anton Peschel Munich, size 7 5/8. This one belongs to Sam on the FL.
  20. P. & C. Habig Wien "Rein", size 58cm. This one belongs to Robert (RLK) on the FL. It appears to be date stamped 1977.
  21. K. & R. Lembert Pilot Antilope, Size 59cm, probably late 1950s early 1960s. It has a Stetson like thin ribbon design and the model name "Pilot" could point to a Stratoliner influence. It's in good shape but unfortunately missing the liner.
  22. Echter Mayser "Superbe", Size 58cm, excellent condition, probably mid 1950s. The felt is a beautiful shade of brown with a great finish. Also very nice bow, brim stitching and binding work. It was sold out of Ernst Köln Men's Store which was a common source for fine hats. Tapped Sweatband
  23. C. G. Wilke Blitz First old soft felt C. G. Wilke that I have come across so this is a rare one. It's most likely from the 1930s but could be older. Unfortunately the non-reed sweatband was hand stitched back in place but otherwise complete. Fantastic silver gray Velour that is very close in quality to JHS Velour. I assume that Hut-Seidel Frankfurt a.0. (Oder in east Germany) is related to Hut-Seidel München. Size 56cm.
