It's hard to believe the number of years some of these people worked at the company. If only this knowledge could be tapped today!

Mayser Velour, size 56cm, probably 1930s and my oldest Mayser soft felt. It's a fantastic golden color (when light hits it) hand brushed wet Echter Velour. One of the finest I have encountered. Also a really great bat wing bow design. I didn't check for a paper label because I was afraid I might damage the sweatband. Some of the reed covering is missing. It came from a non Ebay seller in the Czech Republic.

1937 date stamped envelope from a Dutch Mayser distributor (N.V. Hoedenmaatschappij, Bussum). The Mayser logo on the envelope matches the logo on the above hat.

Mayser Lindenberg, Germany

I didn't tour Mayser since they moved all production to Slovakia in 2011. I will eventually visit to see if they have any artifacts on display. Mayser bought Milz & Cie Straw Hat Factory in Lindenberg in 1929 which became known as Mayser Milz which produced straw and felt hats. Mayser's main felt (felt hat bodies) and felt hat making factory was located in Ulm, Germany but was closed in 1991 and all hat production was moved to Lindenberg. By the way I found out that FEPSA Portugal became relevant because Mayser moved all their felt production (equipment and know how) to FEPSA because of the Mayser Ulm plant closing (late 1980s). I am not sure if it was a partnership or they sold the business. I need to find out more about what took place.

Here is an interesting video (2001 but some parts seem older and in German) from Mayser (see below). I am not sure if they still have this department in Lindenberg (they moved production to Slovakia in 2011) but it's interesting to see the process plus making metal machine forms (this is for women's hats). Wood Blocks used by machines had to made to a different standard. Now most Felt Hats are machined formed. I know someone that can tell me more about the current situation.
