  1. Here is info on the BB finishing machines that were installed at Hat Corp of America in the late 1930s. Correspondence regarding Dobbs use of Brüder Böhm finishing machines. Here's another correspondence regarding the BB finishing machine and McLachlen hat bodies. Interesting technical info.
  2. Manfred, Thanks! I really appreciate your contributions!
  3. Borchert Berlin W., size 59cm, back of sweatband stamped August 6, 1952. Could have been made by Rehfus & Cie. (Kehl a. Rhein) after factory reopened in 1951. Also the Borchert Berlin W. store location changed after WWII because the original location was in the Soviet sector.
  4. This is retail store that had a house brand. According to this 1913 ad Rehfus & Cie (Kehl a. Rhein) made hats under the Borchert Marke. I have no idea if they were the only supplier and how long the relationship latest with Borchert.
  5. Manfred, Thank you for posting these great Maysers! I haven't been able to keep up with your finds so please go ahead and post here if you have time.
  6. This hat maker was out of East Germany (Ernst Gierisch, Zwickau) . I contacted the DE eBay seller and this is what he had to say. I will have to check back with him on the current situation. Google translation. "hello, It is an ancient hatters and furriers (furrier) workshop, it was founded in 1887, all I have pictures on the ground was found in different chambers, there were produced until about 1960 hats and furs. I try this nice workshop closed for several weeks and sell it together but unfortunately this is not easy. It would be a shame to sell everything individually and tear apart. I'm still waiting for something then I have to go in the retail sale. 2 books in the small manufacturing concerns and care of fur. salute to America, regards uwe"
  7. Brüder Böhm Wien Melone, measures out about 58cm but needs some conforming. This is the first Brüder Böhm I have come across from the Wien factory. There is no paper label behind the sweatband (that I can find) and no logo on the sweatband. Natural Light
  8. Amazing find by Robert (RLK) on the FL. Never seen a pre WWI JHS Velour. Everything about it is fantastic! "Miraculous condition. Bow in the 3/4 position between side and back."

  22. Posted by Josh on the FL. 1913 JHS ad from the American Hatter.
  23. It would be amazing to find copies of both of these publications. The contents would answer many unsolved mysteries!
  24. Elegant & Leger German or Austrian black (with some other colors mixed in) Back Bow Velour. I can't make out the coat of arms (help appreciated) but probably Prussian or Habsburg. The Velour is thick & plush with a wide over welt. There is no paper label or company marks but possible this one is from around WWI. Coat of Arms? Owner?
  25. Dermotta Wien Homburg, size 58cm, gray. I believe I have seen hats from this company before but I will have to do some research. The seller and original owner are the same as the Hückel (Weilheim) Chevreau with a date stamp of 12/55. This is a high quality hat with a very nice felt (other colors mixed with the gray) and finish. Also in excellent condition.
