1. The result of criminal WWI sanctions. Mentions the impact on Habig business.
2. Here is a American newspaper ad from 1913 that mentions Austrian Velour resembling real seal skin. Austrian Velour including Seal Velour did not contain seal fur. It was made of rabbit, hare and maybe some nutria or beaver for durability.
3. Mayser "Superbe", Size 60cm. This one is stamped 17 September 1952 inside the sweatband so a rare older one. It has interesting brim stitching and a bunch of brim curl. Not sure if it's a factory crease but whoever did it did a super job. Also in very good condition.
4. Can you tell me the width of the sweatband on your Zeumer Velour?
5. A. Peschel "Norma" Homburg, size 59cm. Very early 1960s and in near NOS condition. This is my first A. Peschel Dinkelsbühl Homburg and it's fantastic.
6. I finally got around to framing and hanging my Mayser's Hut Manufactur print.
7. This one belongs to DavidRaphael on the FL. I am thinking late 1930s to early 1950s.

9. Mayser Melone, size 56cm. Not mine (I was very tempted) but the first pre 1940 Mayser I have come across that wasn't a Topper so very rare. I have never encountered a pre 1940 soft felt Mayser in any size or style.
10. Felix Weissbach Klapp-Hutfabrik DeutschesReichPatent No. 233295 leather pocket calendar - diary from 1915. The patent is for fabric used for collapsible top hats also known as opera hats. It doesn't have any entries and the only wear is on the outside so probably storage related.
11. Maker of collapsible top hats. Also the worlds largest supplier special fabric for collapsible top hats. Located in Glauchau, Saxony, Germany. Rudolf Felix Weissbach born in Glauchau on 30 Aug 1868, passed away on 27 Feb 1935 in Glauchau. Parents: Franz Robert Weißbach and Clara Auguste Leonhardt Wife: Ida Franziska Helene Grosse (3 children) "In 1889, Felix Weissbach founded a Klapphut factory at Brüderstraße 17a and laid the foundation for a new German industry. The trained hatter had previously been on the road as far as France, as was the custom in the past. He had looked over the shoulders of various hatters at work and worked with them. It was there that Weissbach discovered the new type of folding hats. From then on, he wanted to produce them in better quality in his own factory. The folding hats became an absolute hit. As early as 1896, Weissbach moved production (including silk weaving and sewing) to the newly built factory in Schönburgstrasse. His villa is also there. Weissbach laid the foundation for a new German industry. His company with 550 employees developed into the largest Klapphut factory in Europe, probably even in the world. After World War I, 75% of all opera hats worldwide came from Glauchau. During World War II, the company, like many others, was forced into armaments production." Found by and Translated by Matt on the FL. https://www.geocaching.com/geocache...sen?guid=35837820-6dba-406e-90da-19c1a77e4199 Deutsche Kürschner-Zeitung No. 25 - 08.12.1912 Felix Weissbach Villa at Schönburgstrasse 59. There is a Bridal Shop and other rental units located in it now. The building to the far right side of the photo is the other villa. This photo is from an in active rental apartment advert. https://mapio.net/expose/4470325/?gallery=1 Here is a photo of the villa from the article quoted above. The other villa can be seen at the far right side of the photo. Robe de mariée is the bridal shop located in the villa. Doesn't appear any of the main factory buildings are present. The other villa and standalone building are still present (but heavily modified). 12. I received this from the seller. >> Hello Steve, Anton Schätz was a very old ( i thing the first and best) hut maker in Tegernsee (Oberbayern). he is near us, about 15 km away. I am always looking for huts, but in the moment i don`t find anything. Have a nice day and weekend. Greetings from raining bavaria Elke and Sixtus >> My guess is the felt was sourced from an Austrian Velour supplier out of Czecho Slovakia.
13. Hückel Flexible Melone, Size 6 Point, Very good condition. Probably from the 1930s maybe late 1920s. Also rare to find one in a larger size.
14. Interesting article from the Toledo Blade (04/05/1956) on purchasing hats at P. & C. Habigs' main store in Vienna.
15. American newspaper ad (Block Brothers, St. Joseph, MO) from 09/04/1913 mentions the famous JHS Austrian Velours.
16. Hückel Elastic Melone, black, size 58/59. Great condition and probably dates from the 1930s. No country of orgin on the paper label but made by JHS. A very fine specimen indeed!
17. Breiter Munich Velour, back bow, brown, measures about 55cm. This is the sister hat to the Erko-Velour and based on the store locations on liner logo its' highly possible it's from the 1925 - 1930 time period. It's has heavy wear but the unique brown Velour is in good condition with no moth damage and the sweatband, ribbon/bow and liner are intact. Breiter still has their stores in Munich but now I believe only makes women's hats.
18. Hat store that also made hats. Still in business today although I beleive they only make women's hats but sell name brand men's hats. Breiter
19. German / Austrian Black Velour, size 54cm. This one is Austrian Velour like and the Czech word Erko points in that direction. Unfortunately the paper label was removed probably during cleanings. I am not sure if the name on the sweatband is the shop, owner or maker from Tegernsee. The Velour on this hat is really beautiful and in perfect condition. The overall condition of the hat is very good including the non reeded sweatband. It's definitely pre 1940 and it could easily go back to the 20s. This one has the unique JHS Velour smell when steamed. I really like this one to say the least. Liner logo enhancement by Dinerman(Spencer)on the FL.
20. I discovered (May 5, 2018) that "Erko" was the trademark of Ernst Kohlndorfer Miesbach (Germany) Velour Hut Fabrik.
21. NOS Goldsiegel in size 59cm. Very nice cord work and felt + color / finish. Early 1960s Trachten with Stetson style elements. This one is from the same store as size 58cm Goldsiegel posted above.
22. Rockel Wildleder, dark loden green with gold binding, size 59cm. Date stamped 1962 and in fine condition. Unique ribbon and bow work with a very nice felt finish.
23. Echter Mayser "Bristol" "Spezial", gray, size 59cm. Probably early to mid 1960s. An over welt stingy brim with a very unique ribbon and very nice felt finish.
