  1. This is a later P. & C. Habig (1984), size 59cm. Got to love that Habig always listed the production year of the hat. I think they stand alone in this regards.
  2. Habig Zefir (1960) This beauty belongs to RLK on the FL. Beautiful moderately lightweight finely finished felt. 2-3/8" raw edge brim. 1960 date on tag. 2" wide sweatband fairly thick buttery leather.
  3. I received this small size brown Böhm Fedora a while back but never posted pictures. I am thinking early 60s.
  4. Georg Fischer is a new one to me. I couldn't find anything on them. This velour Alpen model belongs to IceDog on the FL. It looks to be late 50s early 60s and was exported to the US.
  5. This beautiful probably late 50s Peschel belongs to RLK from the FL. 2-1/2" brim with narrow binding. Finish is between shaved and satin. Dark Taupe color.
  6. A late 70s or later Wegener velour from Bigbjorn on the FL. Imported to Sweden.
  7. This super Mayser belongs to Sue on the FL. I am not really clear on the age. I think it is from the 50s but not sure which part. The felt reminds me of some of my old Borsalinos - malleable, but substantial. 2 5/8" brim, 5 1/2" uncreased crown, 2 1/8" reeded sweat, 7/8" ribbon. It's actually a little lighter than charcoal - a dark medium gray.
  8. Fritz Hückel,Weilheim Zephyr Seal Velour (size 58cm) This beauty belongs to RLK on the FL. This hat can be dated between 1951-57 since Stanley W. Unger left the Palmer House Hotel at the end of 1950 to move to the Bismarck Hotel Lobby as well as in the Chicago Board of Trade Building. The Bismarck Hotel Store had a "Going Out of Business Sale" Jan.-Mar. of 1958. He retired a few years later and had an additional store in Evanston less than a mile from where I now live. The wide double-thickness brim edge has no stitching so is either felted or a glued overwelt and its 1-7/8" wide. The crown dips to 4-1/4" at the front and rises to 5". The sweatband has the accordion-pleated front ventilation. Super-soft plush felt. In great condition except for a case of "ring around the collar".
  9. Posted by RLK on the FL. From Luckenwalde. Still haven't found a hat made by them(pre 1933), but the building by Erich Mendelsohn(1921) is quite famous. http://eng.archinform.net/projekte/875.htm
  10. Posted by RLK on the FL. NOTGELDSCHEIN*LUCKENWALDE*50 (pre 1933)
  11. P. & C. Habig Murau Velour, size 59cm. Not sure why the outside paper label has 58cm? / 7 3/8. This one was made in 1973 but still of very high quality.
  12. This beautiful pristine Hückel Seal Velour belonged to Marc Chevalier on the FL. Not sure when it was made (probably late 1930s) but definitely out of Novy Jicin. Amazing hat!
  13. This Mayser Homburg (size 59cm) is probably late 50s early 60s and in great condition.

  15. From RLK on the FL. Very rare DDR find! The Bunny Velour is soft and a little floppy but the hat construction is a bit unrefined. Somewhere between 1948-1990. Made in East Germany in a town south of Berlin that once had 12 hat factories. 4-1/4" crown and 2-3/8" brim. This hat has an unreeded sweat with a taped seam, pleated liner and frayed edge bow but I would guess it is from the 1960's.
  16. This Peschel Flexa (size 59cm) is from the late 50s early 60s. Probably too stingy for most but I like the look. Peschels (never seen a pre 1945 one from Nový Jičín) are pretty rare and only paid $1.50.
  17. This is a 1930s Hückel Sigma Foulard Seal Velour, size 5 1/2 Point. It was made at the Nový Jičín factory. The crown is 6 inches open with a 2 1/2 inch brim. Finest velour finish I have come across. I had it restored by Optimo and I think they did a great job. They replaced the non reeded sweat and ribbon/bow. Also the liner was missing so I had them put in a new one. The felt was in very good condition. Original sweatband and ribbon/bow.
  18. Ottmar Reich (1961?) This black and olive Ottmar Reich Back Bow belongs to Hornby on the FL. There was a folded newspaper behind the sweat dated 1961.
  19. P. & C. Habig Charcoal Alpen Velour, Size 60cm This one belongs to RLK on the FL and was made for the US market. I am thinking late 60s. Not the old paper label style.
  20. Hückel Mele Black This one also belongs to RLK on the FL. It is a size 58cm and probably made at Hückel Hutfabrik Weilheim in the late 50s.
  21. Hückel Extra This beauty belongs to RLK on the FL. Probably made at Hückel Hutfabrik Weilheim mid to late 50s. 2-1/2" bound brim, 4-1/2" crown at front center. 12 ligne ribbon with angled rough edge bow. Soft, light finely finished felt.
  22. Stetson - Mayser 3X Beaver Quality Homburg, size 58cm This one was made by Mayser 12/27/58. Mayser started licensing and making Stetsons in 1954. The condition is near new.
  23. Hüte aus Ebreichsdorf Article in German about the hat factory in Ebreichsdorf, Austria. Fraenkel and BRÜDER BÖHM were produced at the factory which shut down in 1971. Interesting mention of a price war with TONAK being one of the causes.

  25. From Herbert Jennissen at Hut Neuberth, Augsburg. Some background info regarding Stetson operations in Europe. "Mayser had owned the Stetson license for Europe before FWS* got it. The hats then were high end products like the fur felt Stetsons made in the USA (just different shapes and a smooth finish all made by Mayser in Lindenberg). The problem: the hats were very expensive and hardly anybody bought them. Too little sales for Stetson, so they gave it to FWS, who labeled the whole collection."
