München Hat Factories and Hat Shops  (München Address Book, 1915)

Mayser "Grosser Preis" / M. Mertés Hutfabrik, Inh. Max Hecht Nürnberg Karolinenstr. 8, measures 58.5 cm, possibly late 1920s early 1930s (this based on a February 3, 1932 Newspaper Sweatband Spacer). This one is difficult to date because of the non matching Liner and Sweatband plus no Paper Label.  I tend to think it was made by Mayser Ulm based on the construction, components and Felt  are of very high quality.  I have collected some information but have to do more research.  It's rare to find a Mélange Stiff Felt.  I believe this is Fur Felt because of the very soft hand but it might have some Wool in the mix. The Mélange is mostly different shades of Gray maybe a tinge of Red other unknown Colors.  The Finish is some what roughly clipped so  Flamand Velour like.  This is one of my better recent finds.  As I mentioned it's difficult / rare to find this type of Stiff Felt.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Foulard" / Drei - Spitz Marke, Gustav Sellckau Hamburg, FP 6 3/4, Date Stamped 09/16/1931.  This Stiff Felt was made by   J. Hückel´s Söhne (JSH) for Gustav Sellckau Hamburg (GSH).   I have not encountered a "Foulard" JHS Stiff Felt before so it's unique.  It's Date Stamped (09/16/31) which is rare for JHS (probably stamped by GSH) and the Paper Label Type is very similar to the JHS Stiff Felt Paper Label Types 1a, 1b and 2 (which are all similar).  The Felt has a very nice finish and overall condition is excellent.  I have not encountered this type of Sweatband before and it is marked "J / Special" so most likely custom for GSH.

C. G. Wike Guben "Electron", 57 cm, possibly late 1920s early 1930s.  This possibly Wool Stiff Felt Hat belongs to Steve1857 on the FL.

Echter Borsalino "Sandurbar", Point 6 1/2, Open Crown 16 cm 6 1/4 inches, Brim 7 cm 2 3/4 inches, possibly late 1920s early 1930s.  The "Ossido" color Felt is of medium weight, has a very soft hand and easily hand creases.  There was a Wind Cord at one time and the Crown Tip Patch is missing but there are some glue remnants. I searched  "Sandurbar" and it appears to be a port in the Western India State of Goa on the Arabian Sea.  I think the name is out dated because there were only a few mentions and they were from the early 1900s. 

Can see faint remnants of the Crown Tip Patch. 

The Paper Label is Type 1  but small in size 5 cm X 1 cm (top chopped off).

A. Breiter München Weinerstr. 6 location opened Approx. 1925 a previous location at Bayerstr. 53a closed Approx. 1924.  Based on a A. Breiter München advertisement in the "Official guide through the collections with 128 illustrations and 7 plans By Deutsches Museum (Germany), Benno Laskow, Gustav Hofmann, Joh. Bernhard Barkemeyer · 1925".

Zweibrückenstr. 5/7, Schellingstr. 29 locations opened Approx. 1930.  Based on a A. Breiter München advertisement in "Oberammergau and Its Passion Play, 1930 - Page 16".

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Standard" "Crystall Velour", FP 5 1/2, possibly mid 1930s.  This fantastic Velour Hat was made for the Danish market and belongs to Steve1857 on the FL.

Alois Pichler Wien, measures 57 cm, no paper label, possibly late 1950s.  I am fairly certain the Felt has some Wool content and has a very soft hand and easily dry creases.  The Felt is a mélange  of mostly gray and green.  Not sure if this was made or sourced by Alois Pichler Wien.  The components and workmanship are of high quality.

P. & C. Habig Wien, "Der steife Habig Auto - Hut zerbricht nicht! / The stiff Habig Car Hat doesn't break!", 23 cm x 15.5 cm, Advertising Placard. Need to do more research to determine a possible time period.

P. & C. Habig Wien, "Habig Auto - Capes, Marque deposée, Incassable, Indéformable" / Habig Auto - Capes, Trademark, Unbreakable, Undeformable", 23 cm x 15.5 cm, Advertising Placard. Could be for the French Market. Not sure if "Auto - Capes" is related to "Auto - Cape" patent. I think this is earlier because the "Auto Cape" mark was also used in the Austrian and German Markets. Need to do more research to determine a possible time period.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Jota" "Seal Velour" made for the French Market, possibly late 1920s to mid 1930s.  Stefan of the FL was beyond gracious in making this really fantastic Velour available to me.  He brokered a deal with the French seller and packaged + sent the hat to me.  I owe him a boat load of gratitude.  I wasn't satisfied with the inside photos I took so those will come later.  JHS Black Velour Hats are very difficult to photograph properly.

Habock's Velour Cardboard (7 cm x 5 cm) and Metal (7 cm x 3.5 cm) Displays possibly 1920s / 1930s.

Habock is Heinrich Bock Hutfabrik Berlin.  Back in 2015 I found this Habock's Velour,  Blum-Velour advertisement (from DHZ 12/10/1928) that showed an alliance between Heinrich Bock Hutfabrik Berlin and  Oberösterreich / Upper Austria Carl Blum Weis Velourhutfabrik.  Most likely Oberösterreich / Upper Austria Carl Blum Weis Velourhutfabrik suppled Velour Stumpen / Capelines to Heinrich Bock Hutfabrik Berlin possibly finished  Velour Hats.

C. G. Wilke "Blitz" possibly later 1930s.  This Velour belongs to Matt of the FL.

Rockel Hat Holder possibly 1930s / 1940s.  This Hat Holder belongs to Matt on the FL.

Dunn & Co. Ltd London Provinces, "Austrian Velour", "Romeo", English Size 7 1/8 possibly mid to later 1930s.  Based on the paper label format I believe this hat was made by Anton Peschel Neutitschein (APN).  I would like to thank Panos from the FL for making this fantastic Austrian Velour available to me.  The Velour is all around (color, finish and hand) really fantastic.  The Velour is more Close Cropped and has high gloss.  The Velour is also very pliable but still holds it's shape.  All the components are of high quality and the condition is excellent.  APN Soft and Stiff Felt Hats are rare finds so major props to Panos.

J. Hückel´s Söhne Promotional Pocket Mirror, possibly 1930s late 1920s.

P. & C. Habig Wien Hausmarke, P. & C. Habig's "Special Qualität" Reine Handarbeit Berlin Friedrichstr. 82a, 60 cm possibly early 1930s.  This hat belongs to Matt on the FL.

Tonak "Brillant" "бриллиант", 58 cm possibly mid 1950s.  This fantastic Velour was found by Brent on the Fedora Lounge and kindly offered to me a few months ago.  The condition of the light colored Velour is excellent along with the all the components.  The Velour felt is very pliable and easily dry creases. The liner is really special along with the Russified Tonak mark.  This hat was made for the Russian market. The Sweatband mark "бриллиант"  is Russian for "Brillant".
