Wegener "Rex", 58cm made for Hut Brömme Nürnberg 75th Anniversary (1953). There isn't a company mark but the paper label is from Wegener. This is a really fantastic hat!

The Homburg Hat On the left is Edward VII King of England wearing an original Homburg Hat. The hat directly below is a reproduction of the hat he is wearing in the photo. The museum doesn't have any original Edward VII style PH. Möckel Hutfabrik Homburg Hats in their collection(not sure if any exist). On the right is Konrad Adenauer first Chancellor of West Germany who was famous for wearing a Homburg Hat. The hat directly below is his Homburg Hat and the prize of the collection. Turns out it's a well worn P. & C. Habig Wien that he purchased at Hellings Bonn. His initials (Dr. K. A.) are on the sweatband. The Homburg Hat

The following is a visual tour of the Gotisches Haus (Gothic House) Hat Museum, Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Germany. The main theme of the museum is the historic "Homburg Hat" which Edward VII brought back to England and made world famous. I would like to thank the museum curators for allowing me access to their amazing collection. I highly recommend a visit to Bad Homburg vor der Höhe (a beautiful historic spa / casino town just north of Frankfurt) and especially to the Gotisches Haus (Gothic House) Hat Museum. Kohlndorfer Velour Hutfabrik Miesbach / Oberbayren
habigman replied to habigman's topic in German Hat Companies
Kohlndorfer - Hückel Weilheim - , size 57cm, probably mid 1950s. It appears to be a mix of two hat companies, Hückel Weilheim (sweatband) and Kohlndorfer (liner). I know that Hückel Weilheim also repaired hats when they first started (they were in a small garage) so it could be from that time period although everything looks original. I am just starting to look into Kohlndorfer Hutfabrik Miesbach, Germany. This is a fantastic hat and a gift from ErWeSa(Wolfgang) which I met up with in Salzburg on my January 2016 trip to Germany, Austria and Italy. Thanks! -

Borsalino Factory Tour January 12th, 2016
habigman replied to habigman's topic in General Discussion
Some brief observations. Most of the machinery at the Borsalino factory was moved (1980s) from the old (Antica Casa) Borsalino factory location. The front end of the Felt production section dates back toaround the start of the 20th century. Borsalino has reduced the number of production processes over the years due to cost factors. Borsalino recently returned to producing their own soft straw hats (Panama, ect) after previously outsourcing to Tesi and possibly other companies. Borsalino is sourcing processed fur from Portugal (Cortadoria Nacional de Pêlo, S.A.) and from a Belgium source(?). Borsalino is sourcing some felts (specialty finishes, exotic fur & wool types) from Portugal (FEPSA-Feltros Portugueses, SA). Borsalino was very open to showing their entire production facility and answering all inquiries. Borsalino remain the iconic dress / fashion hat company! -
